But recognising a concern, knowing how to respond and knowing when additional support is needed are very different things.

The Good Place works alongside schools to make mental health education and support more practical, accessible and meaningful.

Our approach is not about adding another one-size-fits-all wellbeing program.

It starts with understanding your school.

Every school is different.

Every school has its own community, culture, strengths and challenges.

Before recommending a program or intervention, we want to understand what is happening within your school.

We can explore:

What are teachers currently seeing in students?

What mental health and wellbeing themes are emerging?

What are staff feeling confident about?

Where do teachers need more support?

What is already working well?

Where are the gaps?

What support is currently available to students?

What would make the greatest difference to your school community?

Where helpful, we can use a short staff survey to help identify common themes and establish a clear starting point.

From understanding to action.

Our approach brings together four key stages:

Understand

Develop a clearer picture of the mental health and wellbeing needs within your school.

Educate

Build mental health knowledge, language and confidence across the school community.

Support

Identify children, families and staff who may benefit from additional support.

Act

Turn what has been learned into practical strategies and next steps.

What we can offer schools

🧠 Mental health education for children

Age-appropriate, interactive sessions designed to help children understand their emotions, mental health, stress, anxiety, coping and help-seeking.

Our TAME program, Talking About Mental & Emotional Health, is designed for children from approximately 8 years of age.

The aim is to give children the knowledge, language and confidence to understand their mental health and know when and how to ask for help.

👩‍🏫 Teacher education and support

Teachers don’t need to become mental health professionals.

But they do need to feel confident recognising when something may be going on and knowing what to do next.

Education and consultation can focus on areas such as:

Understanding children’s mental health

Recognising signs of concern

Anxiety and emotional difficulties

Supporting children in the classroom

Responding to difficult behaviour

Conversations around mental health

Understanding when to seek additional support

Supporting teacher confidence and wellbeing

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent education

Children’s mental health doesn’t stop at the school gate.

Where appropriate, we can provide education and information sessions for parents to help develop a shared understanding of children’s mental health.

Topics can be tailored to the needs of your school community.

💬 Early intervention and clinical support

Education isn’t always enough.

Some children may need more individualised support.

Where appropriate, The Good Place can provide further clinical support and early intervention, working alongside the school’s existing wellbeing, counselling and support structures.

The aim is to complement what is already in place, not replace it.

More than a workshop.

A school wellbeing session can be valuable.

But lasting change requires more than a single presentation.

Our approach aims to help schools understand:

What is happening?

What are children and teachers experiencing?

Why might it be happening?

What factors may be contributing to the concerns being observed?

What can we do?

What practical strategies and education could help?

What happens next?

How can the school continue to respond after the initial intervention?

Building mental health literacy across the school community.

Children benefit when the adults around them have a shared language.

When students, teachers and parents understand mental health in similar ways, conversations become easier.

A child can learn:

“I know what anxiety feels like.”

A teacher can recognise:

“This might be more than ordinary worry.”

A parent can understand:

“This behaviour may be communicating something.”

And together, the adults around the child can work out:

“What does this child need?”

A collaborative approach.

We don’t want to come into a school, deliver a program and disappear.

We want to work alongside the people who already know your students and your community.

That means listening to school leadership, wellbeing staff and teachers, understanding existing structures and considering where our expertise can complement what is already working.

Your school doesn’t need another program just for the sake of having another program.

The question is:

What does your school actually need?

Sometimes that may be mental health education for students.

Sometimes it may be teacher education.

Sometimes parents need more support.

Sometimes a particular cohort or group of children needs additional intervention.

And sometimes the most valuable first step is simply understanding what is happening.

The goal

We want schools to finish working with The Good Place with more than:

“That was a great workshop.”

We want schools to have:

Greater understanding

A clearer picture of the mental health and wellbeing needs within their community.

Greater confidence

Teachers and staff who feel more confident recognising and responding to concerns.

Greater mental health literacy

Children who have the language and knowledge to understand their emotional world.

Practical strategies

Tools and approaches that can be used in everyday school life.

Clearer next steps

A better understanding of where additional support may be appropriate.

The Good Place

Making mental health make sense.

Children’s mental health education | Teacher education | Parent education | Early intervention | Clinical support

If your school is thinking about how to strengthen its approach to children’s mental health, we’d love to have a conversation.

You don’t need to have a program in mind.

You don’t need to know exactly what your school needs.

Let’s start by talking about what you’re seeing.

<p
